Manny is board certified by The Florida Bar in the areas of Real Estate Law, Business Litigation, and Appellate Law (one of only 15 members of The Florida Bar who are simultaneously certified in three areas of practice) and focuses his practice in these areas. With more than three decades of both transactional and litigation experience, including as outside general counsel for a savings and loan association, Manny combines legal knowledge with a practical understanding of the business community.
Manny has counseled businesses in numerous industries and of varying sizes, including lenders and government agencies such as the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), the Resolution Trust Corporation (RTC), and the Federal Savings and Loan Insurance Corporation (FSLIC), as well as numerous borrowers in complex transactions. Manny has also provided counsel in corporate mergers and acquisitions; financial and debtor-creditor matters to creditors and lenders (including bankruptcy and complex foreclosure litigation); landlord/tenant disputes; Internet law; and construction and real estate development matters.
Manny serves as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association, has significant FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, formerly NASDR) arbitration experience, and is certified as a Florida Supreme Court approved mediator. He also previously served as a Foreclosure Commissioner for the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Manny clerked for Judges James T. Downey and Bobbi Gunther of the Florida Fourth District Court of Appeal following law school and Judge C. McFerrin Smith of the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida while in law school.
Manny has authored numerous legal publications, including Florida Real Estate Law (the real estate component of Thomson-West’s Florida Practice Series), and publishes the Real Property and Business Litigation Report, a highly read weekly compilation of state and nationwide real estate and business cases. The Florida Supreme Court appointed Manny the Chair of its committee on business jury instructions, and he is a regular speaker on topics as diverse as real estate law, business litigation, technology law, and professionalism. Manny also serves as an adjunct Professor of Law at the Florida State University College of Law.
