Stephanie represents financial institutions such as national and state banks, consumer finance companies, credit card issuers, mortgage banks and lenders, mortgage loan servicers, and other consumer financial services providers in state and federal courts. Her primary focus is representing mortgage servicers and lenders in a wide variety of litigated matters including actions for fraud, wrongful foreclosure, breach of fiduciary duty, unfair competition, negligence, and breach of contract.
Stephanie defends the firm’s lending and servicing clients in claims arising under the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Home Ownership and Equity Protection Act (HOEPA), Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and other Federal and State statutes.
Prior to joining the firm, Stephanie handled complex commercial litigation in the areas of corporate and small business law, with experience defending contract and real property disputes. She has also counselled financial institutions and private lenders on commercial and consumer lending matters. While in law school, Stephanie clerked for the Hon. Kathryn Michael in Akron Municipal Court and worked as a court mediator. She also advocated in four national trial competitions as the Trial Team President and was the Champion of the 6th Annual University of Akron Intramural Trial Competition.
